The object of this paper is to introduce the cultural and literary provisions of Vaižgantas’ creative work reflected in Lithuanian periodicals of the interwar period. The paper consists of the introduction and two parts, the first one discussing the conception
of ethics by Vaižgantas and the most important statement, and the second part estimates the influence of the different trends of philosophy on the writer’s world outlook. Methods: analysis and comparison of the articles about Vaižgantas published in the journal “Akademikas” and other publications. Analysis of critical literature enables to summarize that 1) Vaižgantas’ conception of ethics discloses a constant value judgment and the contemplation of the positive society; 2) the writer propagated ethnic criteria of aesthetic-artistic values; 3) good and evil have been depicted by metaphysical and social implications (horizontal and vertical levels correspond to them in the creative work).
