Eseistinis mąstymas (remiantis K. Navako, D. Kazragytės, V. Juknaitės ir V. Daunio tekstais)
Laima ARNATKEVIČIŪTĖ
The phenomenal ability of essayistic contemplation to transcend the limits of different genies and implicate the principles of their stylistics and form or respectively affect them (the so-called „essayisation“) is discussed in the article. As the object four writers of different age and having different experience were chosen. They are Vanda Juknaitė (You Will Give Yourself Away. In voice), Doloresa Kazragytė (The Bridge Without Railings, 1987; Life Before Life, 1994; Everyday Rosary, 1999), Vaidotas Daunys (The Sixth Day, 1995) and Kęstutis Navakas (The Chronicle of Good Life, 2005). Their texts belong to the last decade and represent the variety of essays pertaining to theatrical, cultural (D. Kazragytė), social-critical (V. Juknaitė, K. Navakas) and critical-philosophical (V. Daunys) spheres. The author of the article comes to the conclusion that the essayistic genre connects several ways of contemplation: confession-like, similar to diary or letter writing; declarative, characteristic of documentary and memoir writing; metaphysical, associated with philosophy and religion; and pictorial, characteristic of fiction. Essayistic contemplation can be treated as duplex – as a process of various scientific and cultural spheres’ essayisation and as the reception of these spheres. Persistently transcending the limits of other genres, essay stands out amid other genres by its variety of contemplation strategies: ironical (K. Navakas), critical (D. Kazragytė, V. Juknaitė), philosophical (V. Daunys) and other.
