 Importance of precision farming in improving the environment

In developed countries, it is getting more and more important to maintain the good conditions of the environment. Precision farming meets both ecological and social requirements: to keep the environment biodiversity for the future and to improve the economy. Turning to precision farming needs technical investments. The questions are on what portion of cultivated arable land can this technology be introduced and what the alternatives for decreasing the viable portion of machinery. In this paper, the potential input and cost savings of precision weed management on the sectoral level in the EU countries are examined and forecasted.
